Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is the best Yu-Gi-Oh! game I have played by far.
This is the only one that gives you access to all the cards and also is a fully functional game.
The best part of this is that it is all free!
I had severe reservations about this game. When I heard about it I thought there had to be a catch somewhere. To this point, I have not found that catch.
Even though it is free you don’t need to spend a dime to play this game. The number of gems you get gives you enough to build decks and buy the Battle Pass without spending any money. I am yet to spend any money on the game and yet I built all the decks I wanted to.
There is a campaign but I am yet to play through it so I can’t comment on it.
When it comes to online there is the regular mode which includes playing against another person and ranking up the tiers. They also have events that pop up every once in a while. These events have certain rules which are a welcome addition to the game.
The downsides of the game have nothing to actually do with the game – they are simply about Yu-Gi-Oh! itself.
Although I have played Yu-Gi-Oh! for quite some time I have never been someone who kept up with the new rules over the years. This is really the massive issue with the game. It is extremely competitive. Many times you will run into decks that beat you in just a few turns unless you are playing a meta deck. I don’t which is why I lose many games. This gets frustrating and takes away the fun at times. I would love to see them add a mode allowing people to play old-school rules.
The last negative thing I’ll say is that this game is not for beginners. Anyone can learn the game but coming into this game with no knowledge of the game will likely lead to frustration.
If you like Yu-Gi-Oh! go get this game – it is worth it.
